KUALA LUMPUR: Police will take disciplinary action against the officer who tested positive for drugs at an entertainment outlet.

“Taking drugs is one offence, and being in an entertainment outlet is another. There are standing orders in place that state members of the police force cannot enter entertainment outlets unless for work purposes.

“Even if it’s for work purposes, it must be approved by their respective chiefs. As I said before, strict action will be taken regardless of your rank,” said Kuala Lumpur police chief Comm Datuk Rusdi Mohd Isa in a press conference at the police contingent headquarters on Monday (April 21).

He was responding to questions regarding a police officer with the rank of Inspector, who was arrested by the Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department (NCID) for allegedly partying and consuming a drink suspected to contain drugs at an entertainment centre in Pandan Perdana here on Friday (April 18).

Comm Rusdi added that the officer had also been transferred to Penang following the incident and that the investigation was ongoing.

“We are conducting simultaneous investigations, one focused on narcotics and the other from a disciplinary perspective,” he said.
