KUALA LUMPUR: Future dealings by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) will prioritise users registered with MyDigital ID, says Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

However, the Home Minister said the use of MyDigital ID will not be mandatory yet, as it is part of the government’s digital transformation policy.

He said the government had agreed to amend the National Registration Act 1959 to officially and comprehensively implement this new digital identity system.

“This move is still in the proposal stage and has not yet been approved by Parliament.

“But we encourage the public to start using the application as a means of identity verification in all dealings,” he said during his speech at the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration at Titiwangsa Stadium on Monday (April 21).

He also proposed that the MyDigital ID application be used in more areas, particularly for handling traffic summons payments.
