KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Comm Datuk Fadil Marsus will take charge of the Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department in an acting capacity from Monday (June 30).

Inspector-General of Police Datuk Seri Mohd Khalid Ismail officiated at the handing over ceremony between outgoing Bukit Aman CID director Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain and DCP Fadil here on Monday.

Shuhaily will now head up the Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) effective Tuesday (July 1).

He will serve a two-year term as AKPS director-general until June 30, 2027.

“July 1 is a special date for me. It is the same date as my wife’s birthday, and the same one when I became the Penang police chief.

“This is not a goodbye but a hello from the new kid on the block,” Shuhaily said in his speech.

The IGP, in his response speech, said that he hoped that the esprit de corps between the police and AKPS would be maintained.

“The doors of PDRM are always open if any cooperation is needed.

“I am sure Shuhaily will establish his legacy of leadership in the AKPS,” he said.
