SHAH ALAM: A container lorry transporting chemicals overturned along the Kesas Expressway near here.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said a distress call was received at 10.25am on Friday (July 18).

“Fourteen firemen were dispatched to the scene.

“The lorry was transporting chemicals including liquid sulphur, calcium carbonate and titanium dioxide.

“The chemicals were stored in 10 IBC (intermediate bulk container) tanks, each able to hold 1,000 litres of liquid.

“The crash resulted in the chemicals spilling onto the expressway,” he said in a statement.

The lorry driver sustained minor injuries, he added.

“We are waiting for contractors to move the lorry to the side and enable clean-up efforts,” he added.
