KUALA LUMPUR: The house belonging to the granddaughter of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad that was broken into by burglars was inhabited mainly by the help, say the police.

At a press conference at Dataran Merdeka on Saturday (July 26), acting Kuala Lumpur police chief Deputy Comm Datuk Mohamed Usuf Jan Mohamad said that investigations into the robbery were still ongoing.

“We are still tracing down the suspects. The losses were around RM1.8mil, mainly from old jewellery and personal belongings.

“We are working on leads and investigations will take time,” he said.

On Friday (July 25), it was reported that a home in Bukit Ledang, belonging to the granddaughter of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, had been broken into.

Sources said that the incident occurred on Wednesday (July 23).

It is believed that the incident was discovered at around 3pm when the victim’s domestic helper contacted her after noticing that the rear gate had been cut open and the bedroom ransacked.
