KLUANG: A 55-year-old man was arrested for allegedly masturbating in front of a supermarket here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said police received a report from a local man regarding the incident, which occurred in front of a supermarket at Jalan Batu 4 at 4.22pm on Thursday (July 17), after a video of the act went viral on social media.

“The incident is believed to have taken place at 4.16pm involving a man performing a sexual act in a public area.

“A team from the Kluang police headquarters’ criminal investigation department managed to arrest the suspect,” he said in a statement.He added that the suspect was detained by the roadside along Jalan Besar Mersing at about 5pm the same day.

“Checks revealed that the suspect has two prior offences on his criminal record.

“However, a urine test returned negative for drug use,” he said.ACP Bahrin said the case is being investigated under Section 377D of the Penal Code for outrages on decency, which carries a jail term of up to two years, upon conviction.
