Yet, a viral video has thrust Kluang into the limelight, with claims of indecency disturbing the peace.

So, did a man really perform an indecent act in public as alleged?

TRUE

A man has been arrested for behaving indecently in public in Kluang on Wednesday (July 16), after a video of the incident went viral.

Kluang OCPD ACP Bahrin Mohd Noh said that upon receiving a report, police launched an investigation and found that the incident took place in front of a supermarket on Jalan Batu 4 at 4.16pm.

He said the 55-year-old man was arrested by the roadside at Jalan Besar Mersing at around 5pm on Thursday (July 17).

Checks revealed that the suspect had two prior criminal records, but his urine test came back negative for drugs.

“The case is being investigated under Section 377D of the Penal Code, which carries a sentence of up to two years’ imprisonment upon conviction,” he said in a statement on Friday (July 18).

Earlier, a 12-second video went viral on social media showing a man performing an indecent act while holding a mobile phone by the roadside.
