Senior lawyer Shishir Hiray has been appointed as the special public prosecutor (SPP) in the three separate offenses registered in connection with the Porsche car accident in Pune.

Advocate Hiray appeared as an SPP in the Porsche car accident case before the special court in Pune on Friday. Hiray submitted an application seeking test identification parade of two accused persons Ashpak Makandar and Amar Gaikwad in this case.

Two IT engineers Aneesh Awadhiya and his friend Ashwini Koshta, both 24 and from Madhya Pradesh, had died after a speeding Porsche car, allegedly driven by a 17-and-a-half-year-old boy in an inebriated state, hit their motorcycle. at Pune’s Kalyani Nagar junction around 2.30 am on May 19.

That same day, a first information report (FIR) was lodged against the minor car driver, at Yerwada police station, under sections 304, 304 (a), 337, 338, 427, 279 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and sections 184, 119/177 of the Motor Vehicle Act (MVA).

The police investigation revealed that when the boy was taken to Sassoon Hospital for a medical examination after the accident, his blood sample was allegedly replaced with his mother’s.

The police arrested his father, mother, Dr Ajay Taware — the former head of the forensic department of Sassoon Hospital, Dr Shrihari Harnol — who was the casualty medical officer at the time, and a Class IV employee Atul Ghatkamble, for allegedly changing the minor’s blood sample for financial favors.

Following these arrests, police had invoked sections 7, 7 A, 13 of the Prevention of Corruption Act in this case.

The police had further arrested two “middlemen” Makandar and Gaikwad. Police said Makandar allegedly took Rs 4 lakh from the minor’s father at a hotel in Kalyani Nagar and gave it to the Sassoon staff for changing the blood samples. Police said they have recovered Rs 2.5 lakh from Dr Halnor, Rs 50,000 from Ghatkamble. The remaining Rs 1 lakh is yet to be recovered.

On Friday, police filed an application before the court regarding addition of section 8 and 12 of the Prevention of Corruption Act as well as IPC sections 109 and 34 in this case.

Meanwhile, the minor boy accused in this case was released from the observation home following a Bombay High Court order on June 25. Police have filed a “final report” against the minor before the Juvenile Justice Board on June 18. The minor has submitted an essay on road accidents and their solutions to the JJB, as a part of the compliance of conditions set by the JJB while granting him bail.

The other six accused including his parents have failed applications seeking bail before the court. Police are yet to file bail pleas of the minor’s father and Makandar.

Earlier, the minor’s father had received bail in the other two offenses related to the Porsche car crash. The second FIR in this connection was lodged on May 20 against the minor’s father and six others including the owner, managers of two restaurants in Pune where liquor was allegedly served to the minor boy and his friends before the accident. They were booked under sections 77, 75 of the Juvenile Justice (Care and Protection of Children Act, 2015 and sections 3, 5, 199A of the Motor Vehicle Act. All accused in this FIR were granted bail by the court.

Also, based on a complaint filed by the 42-year-old driver, the third FIR of kidnapping and wrongful confinement, under IPC sections 342, 365, 506, 34, against the minor’s father and grandfather, who are prominent realtors in the Pune. city. Police had arrested the grandfather and father of the minor for allegedly kidnapping and forcing the driver to take the blame of the Porsche car accident, both were later granted bail by the court.

Advocate Shishir Hiray, who has been appointed as a special public prosecutor (SPP) in the Porsche car crash cases in Pune, is a resident of Malegaon in Nashik district of Maharashtra.
