Minister of Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan, MP urged the newly appointed fire fighters and drivers to be engaged in the service of the country. He made this call while addressing the chief guest at the closing parade of the 63rd batch of fire fighters, 1st batch of female fire fighters and 53rd batch of drivers who successfully completed their training at the Fire Service and Civil Defense Training Complex located in Mirpur, Dhaka at 15:30 on Sunday, June 2. At the beginning of the speech, he remembered with deep respect the Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, all the martyred members of his family on August 15, the brave martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the Great War of Liberation and the martyred firemen who died by participating in firefighting and rescue operations in various accidents, including 13 fire heroes.
Mr. Md. Abdullah Al Masud Chowdhury, Secretary of Security Services Department, was present as a special guest in the event. At this time, Director General of Directorate of Fire Service and Civil Defense Brigadier General Md. Main Uddin, BSP (Bar), NDC, PSC, G, M Phil, directors and officials of various ranks of the Ministry and Directorate, principal of the training complex, parents of new fire fighters and invited guests were present.
At 15-00 hours, when the home minister’s convoy entered the training complex, the bugle sounded faintly. At this time, the director general of the department welcomed the chief guest and ascended the stage. The members of the 4 contingents including the flag bearer contingent greeted the chief guest at this time. The Chief Guest inspected the contingent, witnessed the march past and took salute. The chief guest awarded the 3 people who were the best in the overall evaluation during the long 6-month training period. Adjutant Mohammad Mamun of the training complex recited the oath to the new firefighter and drivers on this occasion. The chief guest cuts the cake for the closing ceremony. Director General of the Directorate Brigadier General Md. Main Uddin handed over the greeting crest to the chief guest and special guests as a sign of memory of Fire Service and Civil Defense.
In his speech as the chief guest, Home Minister Mr. Asaduzzaman Khan, MP expressed his gratitude to the Prime Minister by mentioning the achievement of ‘Freedom Award 2023’ of the Fire Service and the implementation of lifetime ration. He congratulated the Niban Firefighters and Drivers for successfully completing the training. He said to them, “As employees of service organizations, you have to fulfill the sacred duty of protecting people’s life and property with discipline. During training you have developed yourself physically and mentally. Now you have to fulfill the duties and responsibilities assigned to your workplace with devotion.”
Addressing the 1st batch of female fire fighters, the chief guest said, “You know, joint participation of men and women is important for the desired development of the country. We have renamed the post of ‘Fireman’ as ‘Firefighter’ to ensure women’s participation in challenging professions like firefighting. Soon after this, 15 of you were appointed as female fire fighters in the fire service for the first time. Today you have successfully completed the training. I hope you will also be successful in firefighting and rescue. And I hope that this continuity of recruitment of female fire fighters will continue in the future as well.”
Physical instructor Sentu Chandra Sen performed the duty of parade commander in the closing ceremony of the training. Deputy Assistant Director Md. Shahjahan Shikdar, Senior Station Officer Raihanul Ashraf and Dr. described the process of the program. Mustafa Abdur Rahim and Station Officer Asaduzzaman. A total of 451 firefighters and 84 drivers including 210 fire fighters, 15 women fire fighters and 84 drivers of Dhaka are going to join the workplace after completing the training successfully.
