As the Indian cricket team lifted its second T20 World Cup trophy on Sunday, after a gap of 17 years, defeating South Africa, Indians and cricket fans around the world celebrated.

Soon after the win, along with snippets of crucial moments from the nail-biting final match at Barbados’ Kensington Oval stadium, and reaction videos of captain Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah, and a lot of celebratory memes, videos Capturing the excitement and happiness of legendary cricketer and the head coach of the winning team Rahul Dravid went viral.

Interacting with the press after the team’s win, Dravid, who is stepping down as the head coach, said, “As a player, I was not lucky enough to win a trophy but I gave my best. I was lucky enough to be given an opportunity to coach a team, I was lucky that this bunch of boys made it possible for me to be able to win this trophy. It is a great feeling, it is not like I was aiming for some redemption, it was the job I was doing…it has been a great journey…”

In a video captured right at the moment India won the match, Dravid can be seen jumping from his seat, cheering in excitement. Many social media users shared the same video with captions like, “Rahul Dravid showing emotion. I’ve seen it all,” and, “Rahul Dravid showing emotion finally!”

X user @thatcricketguy shared the video that captured Kohli, and others, made Dravid lift the trophy. He captioned it, “Rahul Dravid – Indiranagar ka gunda”. The snippet, also shared by many other social media users, has Dravid screaming in joy, lifting the trophy.

A video shared by X handle @CinemaRareIN with a caption, “’No dream is ever chased alone.’ – Rahul Dravid,” captured Dravid wiping his tears, hugging and comforting an overwhelmed Virat Kohli, being tossed in the air by the team, and posing for a photo with the World Cup trophy. Overlay text on the video says, “Raw emotions”.

In another video, Dravid, usually reserved, expressed his happiness and pride with abandon, posing with Hardik Pandya, Arshdeep Singh, and other players. He hoots and cheers as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli hold the trophy.

Sharing the video, an X handle @anubhav_tweets wrote, “Introverts showing their emotions is such a rare sight. Can absolutely relate to Dravid saab here.”

With over 31,75,000 views, the video amassed several reactions with one saying, “Nobody ever saw this side of Dravid. He would be so relieved being coach of a World Cup winning team.” Another user wrote, “Dravid the wall has got hands on world cup trophy in his penultimate match as a coach. Very happy to see the great Wall of India this much happy.”

One video showed Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Yuzvendra Chahal, Rishabh Pant and others, lifting Dravid and tossing him in the air.

After the win, Virat Kohli and captain Rohit Sharma announced their retirement from T20 cricket. Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah won the Player of the Tournament award for his outstanding bowling prowess.
