PETALING JAYA: Aerotrain services were temporarily suspended on early Friday (July 4) due to water accumulating in the tunnel following heavy rainfall, says Malaysia Airports.
It said one of the drainage pumps in the tunnel experienced a technical fault during the downpour, preventing the automatic removal of water.
“As a safety precaution, train operations were suspended until the water was manually cleared and the tracks were confirmed safe for use.
“Service resumed at 12.15pm once full clearance was obtained from the technical and safety teams,” it said in a statement.
Malaysia Airports said they are rectifying the pump system to ensure optimal performance during future weather events.
“Transport service to the satellite terminal was uninterrupted during the incident, with
passengers using the airside shuttle bus services,” it said.
It added that technical teams would continue monitoring the Aerotrain system closely during the early stages of operations.
“We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we fine-tune this new system,” it said.
