SEREMBAN: The driver of the car that ran a red light on Jalan Persiaran Senawang 1, resulting in the death of two teenagers last Thursday was found to be without a driving licence.

Seremban District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohamad Hatta Che Din, said the car driver is 18 years old, not 15 as claimed on social media.

“We are still conducting further investigations into this case and hope the public will refrain from making any speculations as it could disrupt the investigation process and affect the sensitivities of those involved.

“For now, the driver’s statement has not been taken as the victim is still being treated in the hospital,” he told Sinar Harian on Saturday (March 8).

He further stated that the case is still being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, and the investigation will also focus on offences under the act, including driving without a licence.

In the incident at 8.30pm last Thursday, the accident involved three vehicles: a car and two motorcycles.

Preliminary investigations revealed the accident occurred when the car driven by the teenage male driver, accompanied by a passenger, was moving from Senawang towards Paroi and failed to stop at a red traffic light, hitting two motorcycles coming from the left.

The accident resulted in the rider and passenger of one of the motorcycles, aged 15 and 16, suffering severe head injuries and being pronounced dead at the scene.

The deceased were Muhammad Aidil Ramdan, 15, and Muhammad Aswari Lotpi, 16.

Meanwhile, the driver and passenger of the car and the rider and passenger of one of the motorcycles sustained serious injuries and are receiving treatment at Tuanku Jaafar Hospital in Seremban.

It is understood that the driver of the car is still receiving treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU).

Following the incident, many parties expressed dissatisfaction with the driver, accusing him of dangerous driving leading to the fatalities.

Meanwhile, the actions of the driver’s sister, who appeared to side with her brother through several social media posts, also sparked outrage among netizens.
