On one side, Emmanuelle Alt, one of the most respected stylists in the industry. On the other, Angelina Kendal, a 19-year-old Brazilian and New Zealand model and one of the most sought-after faces of the moment, both on the runway and in luxury brand campaigns. Behind the lens, French-Lebanese photographer Anthony Seklaoui, a rising star in fashion photography, who recently captured the images for a beautiful book devoted to Pieter Mulier’s collections for Alaïa (Alaïa by Seklaoui).
The trio takes center stage in this scarlet-toned series featured in this special fashion issue of M Le magazine du Monde. Why red? A ubiquitous color in this season’s collections, this never-say-die hue sets the tone for a dazzling wardrobe. “Unlike that timorous blue, red is a proud color, petrified of ambition and thirsting for power, a color that wants to be seen and is determined to impose itself on all others,” wrote research historian and color specialist Michel Pastoureau in Couleurs : le grand livre (“Colors: The Big Book”), co-authored with Dominique Simonnet.
From accessories to make-up, evening gowns to underwear, red is obsessively revisited here with both modernity and singularity.
