PETALING JAYA: The Health Ministry has given its assurance that patient flow at public hospitals is being addressed to overcome high volume, particularly at facilities like Hospital Sungai Buloh’s Orthopaedic Specialist Clinic.

A social media post by @barathiSelvam10 on Tuesday (July 1) spoke of an anonymous individual’s experience with a prolonged wait time at the clinic the day before.

According to the ministry, a total of 158 patients were seen at the clinic that day.

It was manned by three specialists and three medical officers on a scheduled rotation, it said in a statement on Friday (June 30).

The post claimed that over 300 people were present at the clinic.

However, the ministry clarified that this number probably included family members or caregivers, common in hospitals, especially when elderly or paediatric patients are involved.

“The ministry recognises the operational challenges faced by healthcare facilities during peak periods and is committed to streamlining services to reduce patient congestion,” it said.

The ministry also thanked the public for their feedback and said it would continue to monitor and enhance service delivery at its health facilities.
