NAIROBI, June 7 (Xinhua) — Kenya Airways said Friday that it would launch a new route connecting Nairobi, the capital of Kenya, directly to Maputo, Mozambique on June 19.

The national carrier said the inaugural flight to Maputo will be launched in response to growing demand for travel between East and Southern Africa.

“This new route marks an exciting milestone, offering travelers greater convenience and connectivity to one of Africa’s vibrant destinations,” the airline said ahead of the launch.

It said the strategic initiative represents a significant expansion of Kenya Airways’ network within the local market, enhancing regional connectivity and promoting intra-Africa trade. The new route will offer a seamless travel experience for both business and leisure travelers with flights available three days a week, on Wednesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.

“This expansion further solidifies Kenya Airways’ commitment to strengthening its network in Mozambique, and the continent at large,” the national carrier said.

The new route not only caters to travelers originating in Kenya but also serves as a convenient connecting point for passengers from other African cities via Nairobi, the airline said.
