KOTA KINABALU: A man was killed after he was crushed by the tipper of a five-tonne lorry at Kampung Taginambur Kiulu, along the Ranau-Tuaran stretch, on Saturday (June 8).

Tuaran Fire and Rescue Services station chief Mohd Nor Amit said the initial investigation revealed that the victim, aged 35, was inspecting the lorry after it unloaded soil.

The tipper suddenly fell, and the man was trapped under it.

A team of 10 men, led by operation commander Mahmud Jumah, was rushed to the scene after receiving a distress call at 1.51pm.

He said they arrived at the scene, some 49km away from the station, at 3.03pm.

“Firemen managed to extract the body, and the victim was pronounced dead by the medical officers at the scene,” said Mohd Nor.

The body was handed to the police for further action, and operations were called off at 3.28pm.
