KOTA KINABALU: The Federal Tourism, Arts and Culture Ministry (Motac) has never received and approved any criteria for the Sabah Malaysia My Second Home (MM2H) Programme which was launched in the state recently.

In a statement on Thursday (July 4), Motac said that the decision to launch Sabah MM2H with the criteria mentioned was made without consultation with Motac.

It said the decision was made unilaterally by the Sabah Tourism, Culture and Environment Ministry (KePKAS).

It hopes that any decisions by KePKAS relating to the Sabah MM2H can be made according to rules and regulations under the Tourism Industry Act 1992 (Act 482).

Therefore, Motac is open to hearing from the KePKAS on this matter and meeting with representatives from KePKAS to clarify issues pertaining to the Sabah MM2H programme, it said.

On June 30, Sabah launched its Sabah MM2H programme with applications open starting July 1.
