KUALA LUMPUR: Inspections of a flyover near Jalan Cheras on Friday night (June 7) confirmed that there were no cracks, they were black streaks from a construction joint instead, says the Works Ministry
The checks conducted by the Malaysian Highway Authority (MHA), Setiawangsa-Pantai Expressway (SPE) superintendent, and EDP consultant at 11.30pm found no cracks at the flyover crosshead, as reported.
“An immediate on-site inspection conducted last night confirmed that there are no cracks on the crosshead; it is merely a black line resulting from a construction joint during the previous concreting work,” the Works Ministry said in a post on X (formerly Twitter), on Saturday (June 8).
It also said the consultant confirmed that the highway portal structure was safe.
It said an inspection and safety confirmation report would be prepared and submitted to the MHA.
The inspection was conducted after Works Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi posted on X on June 7, instructing the MHA and SPE concessionaire to inspect the site immediately.
His post came after an X user posted two pictures of what is assumed to be cracks in the flyover’s structure and a picture of it in April.
