People say as you get older, you get wiser. But even if you grow to be a thousand years old, you won’t have enough wisdom to comprehend the actions of those who spread misinformation online.
For instance, a viral social media post is claiming that the government is handing out RM1,200 cash aid to each Malaysian’s MyKad.
Now is this genuine or another utterly pointless fake news post, the purpose of which we can never fathom no matter how many times we stroke our millennia-old beards?
VERDICT:
FALSE
Shocker. The Finance Ministry debunked this gem on X, formerly Twitter on Friday (Aug 30).
“Be wary and don’t be fooled by fake news such as this,” said the ministry.
INI ADALAH PALSU!
Kementerian Kewangan menegaskan bahawa pengumuman bantuan RM1,200 dikreditkan ke dalam MyKad adalah PALSU.
