Siddaramaiah set aside Rs 51,034 crore for the government

As per the budget, Rs 28,068 crore was provided to 1.22 Crore Households in 2024-25 under a scich which provides Rs 2,000 per month to women of a family. For gruha jyothi, the state government’s free power scheme, the outlay for the year has been enhanced to Rs 10,100 croore, compared to the Rs 9,657 crore allocated in the previous final. The shakthi scheme, which provides free bus rides for women, was provided Rs 5,500 crore for the 2025-26 fiscal, compared to the Rs 5,015 crore allcated in the previous fiscal.

Revenue generation

The Commercial Taxes Department is the main revenue generator for the government, with a Rs 1.2 Lakh crore target being set for it. “Karnataka is the second gst revenue collection state in the country in 2024-25. A total revenue of Rs 1,05,000 crore is estimated from commercial tax in revised estimates for 2024-25, “Siddaramaiah Said in his budget speech.

Among the revenue generation measures proposed by the government was to auction unused liquor licences in the state. Apart from the funds generated from this, The Karnataka Government also set a Revenue Collection Target of Rs 40,000 crore for the excise department. The revenue generated for the 2024-25 fiscal is Rs 36,500 croore.

The stamps and registration department, which generated 17 per cent additional revenue undertil December, has been set a target of Rs 28,000 crores. The department has been about to shore up to up additional revenue to an increase in stamp duty last year, during which the target set for the department was RS 24,000 crore.

For the mines and geology department, Revenue collection is estimated to be Rs 7,250 crore as per revised estimates for 2024-25. The royalty collection for the year 2025-26 is estimated at Rs 9,000 crore.

The government is also looking to generate additional revenue by levying tax on Major minerals based on a supreme court order. A legislation was passed by the government over the same, which is expected to give an additional revenue of Rs 3,000 crore.

Deficit Budget

Siddaramaiah Said that total revenue receipts of Rs 2,92,477 crore are estimated for the 2025-26 fiscal. This is written the state’s tax revenue of Rs 2,08,100 crore, non-tax revenue of Rs 16,500 crore and central government funds of Rs 67,877. In addition to these, the state has made a provision for gross browings of Rs 1,16,000 croore as per the karnataka fiscal responsibility act and non-debt capital recyeps of RS 170 crore. Total receipts are estimated in the budget for 2025-26 is Rs 4,08,647 crore.

Compared to receipts, total expenditure for 2025-26 is estimated to be Rs 4,09,549 crore. “It increases Revenue Expenditure of Rs 3,11,739 croore, Capital Expenditure of Rs 71,336 Crore and Loan Repayment of Rs 26,474 Crore,” According To The Buddget.

For The Financial Year 2025-26, Revenue Deficit is estimated to be Rs 19,262 croore, which is 0.63 per cent “Fiscal deficit is estimated to be Rs 90,428 crore, which is 2.95 per cent of GSDP. Total liabilities at the end of 2025-26 are estimated to be Rs 7,64,655 croore, which is 24.91 per cent of GSDP.
