VETERAN but yet rising singer SOMA has notched another feather in her caps with new lively number ‘Aku Tetap Raya’ for the coming Hari Raya festival.
The special number that hit the airwaves on Thursday (March 6) is particularly close to SOMA’s heart as the song is based on her childhood memories of Hari Raya Aidilfitri and also her wonderful experiences with her family during the festivities.
For the record, SOMA, her real name Rosmah S. Sengari, has been a singer for almost three decades and has been performing in the local circuit since 1996.
She is also part of legendary Malaysian singer Datuk Khadijah Ibrahim’s musical troupe and also performed with the diva during many local events.
SOMA has also taken part in many local musical events including those in RTM and also the famed Akademi Fantasia Year 3 and 4.
The singer also had recently released an album in December and it was the music of renowned composer and late local music legend Datuk S. Atan.
“It has indeed been an amazing and incredible journey over the last few months. And I’m happy that I have this wonderful opportunity to sing a melody for the festive season. And I hope the Malaysian fans will continue to give me support with the new Hari Raya single,” said SOMA, during the launch of her new song in Concorde Hotel in Kuala Lumpur.
The festive song is the creative work of SOMA together with Belle Fattah and Adinda Amiro.
“This song is also about my experience with my friends and family members. And I’m also thankful to Belle and Adinda for arranging this wonderful song dedicated to my close friends and family members,” said SOMA.
“I do hope that this song will gain traction and get good support from music fans in Malaysia. Hopefully, it gets numbers after my album launch in December.”
For the record. SOMA showcased five of her songs in the album at the launch – ‘Perjalanan’, ‘Memori Bulan Disember’, ‘Bebaskan Aku’, ‘Curahan’ and ‘Dugaan’.
Among the songs, ‘Perjalanan’ and ‘Bebaskan Aku’ had infectious melodies that has the invitees at the event humming together when it was performed at the launch.
“The album is also my life story, my experiences and what I have gone through is local music industry. It is a heartfelt work and I hope my music fans will accept it well. And ‘AKu Tetap Raya’ is also a drawback to my happy memories during the festival, my most favourite time of the year.”
Her good friend and mentor Khadijah was also present at the launch and said she was very happy with elevation of SOMA’s career.
“She is a very hardworking musician and I applaud her for all her efforts. This is another special day, indeed. I have known SOMA for a long time and it is great to know she has a album and now a Hari Raya festive number to her name now,” said Khadijah at the launch.
Khadijah was also seen in the music video which was released to the public for the first time on Thursday. Besides Khadijah they were many other celebrities in the video which also included former top model and actress Zahnita, who is now also making a comeback to the entertainment industry.
“The video was an amazing shoot. I had lots of fun and I hope all Malaysians will be just had happy during the Hari Raya festival this year. I also take this chance to thank all my friends and well wishers who were with me during the video shoot,” said SOMA.
Just like her album, the festive single will once again be distributed by Sony Music Malaysia and ‘Aku Tetap Raya’ is now available on major streaming platforms such as Spotify, Joox, Apple Music and also YouTube Music.
