KUALA LUMPUR: State governments have given the federal government 32 offers involving plots of land worth millions of ringgit to build high-quality people’s housing projects, says Nga Kor Ming.

The Housing and Local Government Minister said that in the past, some 35% of our allocation would be used to buy land.

“However, state governments have stepped forward to offer us free land.

“Many states are now willing to surrender their land to the ministry.

“I will send my team to look into it as we have a benchmark-marking system.

“Once we are satisfied and meet our requirements, we are going to use 100% of the allocations to build high-quality homes,” he said after the launching ceremony of the Asean-China Ministerial Roundtable on Construction and Housing (ACMROCH) 2024 here on Wednesday (July 3).

This is part of the ongoing discussion with the state governments after the minister’s announcement in parliament last year that the people’s housing programme should be reviewed.
