IPOH: A woman and a teenage boy were killed while three others, all believed to be family members, were injured after the seven-seater car they were in crashed with a lorry at Jalan Simpang Pulai-Cameron Highlands near here.
Perak Malaysian Fire and Rescue Department Operations Division assistant director Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said both the woman and the boy were confirmed to have died on the spot during the incident on Saturday morning (June 8).
“The two deceased were found trapped and rescued.
“They were pronounced dead by medical personnel,” he said in a statement.
“The driver of the car, in his 60s, was seriously injured while two girls, believed to be four and nine, were also injured,” he said, adding that they received the emergency call at about 11.40am.
Sabarodzi said the lorry driver, 33, who was transporting tyres, was not injured.
“The lorry driver was driving towards Simpang Pulai while the family was headed towards Cameron Highlands.
“The car has crashed into a ditch by the roadside after the accident,” he said.
