PETALING JAYA: It’s been half a year since the murder of six-year-old Zayn Rayyan Abul Matiin and investigations are now at a crucial stage.

The spotlight once again shone on the case on June 1 when the autistic child’s parents were remanded to assist investigations.

On June 7, the remand order for the parents of Zayn Rayyan was extended for another six days to June 13.

Police also returned to the couple’s home on Monday (June 10), with investigations concluding at about 2pm the same day.

Zayn Rayyan’s mother was brought to the scene to re-enact what happened that fateful day.

Checks by Sinar Harian on the scene noted that Zayn Rayyan’s mother was the only witness brought back to the location.

Sinar Harian also reported that the boy’s mother was taken to the riverbank where the boy’s body was found on Dec 6, 2023.

Zayn Rayyan was found dead in a creek near the Idaman Apartment area, Damansara Damai, Petaling Jaya, at 10pm in December 2023.

The police said that an autopsy revealed that injuries to the child’s neck and body were related to criminal acts.

At a press conference held at the Selangor police headquarters on Tuesday, state police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the presence of Zayn Rayyan’s mother at the scene was part of normal investigation procedure.

He also said follow-up statements on the case will be given by Bukit Aman.
